Voyeurism
This is an idea that came from Freud which is about gendered pleasures of cinema. It refers to the idea of looking to gain pleasure.
It is to emphasise peoples sexuality, when in videos men and women are shown sexually as an object.
This idea becomes more complex when we see the male body on display where questions may be raised about how a female may react, to when a male will react when a female is on show.
Narrative and Performance
With the development of technology, music videos are able to become more detailed and interesting. Following this it means that the videos can tell a narrative story where the words are acted out in some way usually used in slower songs.
A performance allows the artists to record different things e.g. socialising in the park etc. and record it for the video purpose.
